Engineers usually find single points of failure to be an unacceptable risk. Yet when delivering technological capabilities at large enterprises we too often fall into the trap of only one or two people know exactly what a process is that everyone is expected to follow. This leads to failure where critical operational and security concerns are missed. By documenting the governance expectations, detection and preventative controls can be created. This also presents the opportunity to leverage approaches like auto remediation and a pre-approved libraries of templates. This provides a way to continue elevating the conversation as technology continues to become more complex and evolve.
